12 September 2010 -- 12:00-17:00 -- Festival on the Green

The Mansfield Downtown Partnership announces that this year's Festival on the Green will be Sunday, September 12 from noon to 5:00 pm behind the Storrs Center commercial plazas. If it rains, the event will move inside E.O. Smith High School. Click here for the full details.

13 September 2010 -- 19:00 -- Special Town Meeting

A special town meeting of the electors and citizens qualified to vote in town meetings of the Town of Mansfield, Connecticut, will be held in the Council Chamber of the Audrey P. Beck Building, 4 South Eagleville Road in Mansfield, Connecticut, on Monday, September 13, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Click here to see the full announcement.

CT Alert Emergency Notification

On June 30, 2010, the State of Connecticut announced the opening of the registration website for CT Alert, the nation’s first statewide emergency notification system (ENS) enabling Mansfield and Connecticut officials to communicate critical information to hundreds of thousands of Connecticut residents and businesses before, during and after emergencies.

05 July, 2010 - Vehicle Fire

Mansfield FD responded to the Eastbrook Mall parking lot, in front of GameStop, for a reported vehicle fire. First responders found moderate smoke coming from the engine compartment with visible fire. Just prior to the arrival of the engine, the oil reservior failed and intensified the fire. Firefighters achieved a quick knock-down and were able to prevent significant damage to two nearby vehicles.

04 July, 2010 - Person Pinned under a Vehicle

Mansfield FD responded to Spring Hill Road for a person pinned underneath a motor vehicle. A neighbor heard the person yelling for help and called 911. On arrival, EMTs and the Windham Paramedic found the man pulseless and not breathing, but were able to revive him after freeing him from underneath the vehicle. The patient was transported to the Mansfield Middle School where Life Star was waiting to fly him to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.

08 May, 2010 - Live-Fire Propane Training

The Mansfield FD, along with assistance from the Columbia FD, held a live-fire propane training drill on Saturday, May 8th. Watch this video that shows a short clip of the training we did. (Note - the clip is not from our drill, but of another department doing a similar evolution.)

06 May 2010 - Structure Fire

Kudos to the Willimantic Fire Department and all mutual aid companies and ambulances (UConn, Windham, Franklin, Hampton-Chaplin) that contributed in this fire on 25 Chestnut Street. Mansfield provided ambulance coverage for the city and had a crew on stand-by at Station 107 in case needed. This fire was fought in very windy conditions. 13 ECSU students were displaced by this fire. No injuries reported, either residents or firefighters.

15 April 2010 - Structure Fire

Mansfield FD members responded to South St. in Coventry, along with Columbia, Bolton, UConn, and Andover, for a report of a fully involved structure fire. First arriving units found a garage destroyed by the fire, and fire on all floors of the house. Some valuables were able to be saved, but sadly all of the pets were killed by the fire.
